The option to use WhatsApp on a tablet is getting closer and closer – the latest version of the app already includes the option.
For years, thousands of WhatsApp users have fantasized about being able to use the messaging app on their tablets. However, the company has decided not to respond to the wishes of its user community, leaving them only the possibility of resorting to alternative ways of using WhatsApp on tablets, such as the possibility of using WhatsApp Web.
However, we have long known that this is about to change. With the arrival of the multi-device mode on WhatsApp, the door has opened to the possibility of an official version of WhatsApp for tablets. A possibility that now seems more plausible than ever, since WABetaInfo discovered that the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android already included the possibility of linking the same account to a mobile and a tablet.
WhatsApp’s “Companion Mode” will allow you to have the same account on a mobile and a tablet
A few months ago we told you about the arrival of “Companion Mode” on WhatsApp. It was a feature to allow the same account to be used on two mobiles at the same time.
As far as we now know, WhatsApp has continued to work on this tool and has now added the ability to use WhatsApp’s “companion mode” to associate the account with a tablet. As can be seen in the screenshot, the user interface is adapted to the tablet format, and allows the user to scan the QR code with the main device in order to associate their account.
Upon connection, WhatsApp will allow you to transfer the chat history to the tablet and start using the messaging application on the device, without the main smartphone being connected to the Internet.
The “Buddy Mode” will allow you to associate up to four devices at the same time with the same WhatsApp account. For now yes, there is no specific version of WhatsApp for iPad devices, but you can download WhatsApp on any Android tablet.
