It’s quite a chaotic weekend. Fortnite managed to make a transition to a new chapter (Chapter 5) and that was not without problems. A lot has been announced and there is a good chance that you did not receive everything. So take a good seat. Below you have all the news and above is the launch trailer for Chapter 5.
It will not have escaped your attention that Fortnite Chapter 5 has been announced. In the article by colleague Rik you can read what has been added. Think of a new Big Bang Battle Pass with, of course, cool cosmetics, skins and weapons. In addition, customizing your weapons is possible through ‘mods’ that you can put on your weapon at a Mod Bench. These are mods where, for example, you have less recoil and more bullets in your magazine.
However, that only concerns the gameplay, but we saw much more during the Fortnite live event. For example, we saw a LEGO universe that will go live next week.
However, there is a good chance that you did not see this announcement live during the Big Bang Event, because the waiting times were really enormous to be able to play Fortnite. So far, just a quick summary of what was going on. However, more is known about Fortnite’s new Chapter 5. For example, we saw an announcement of a muscular Peter Griffin, completely in the style of Family Guy (the show of which he is the main character). Together with other characters he will make an appearance in this new chapter of Fortnite.
Fortnite Sphere
Have you heard of ‘The Sphere’ in Las Vegas? This is a new building where the outside is completely fitted with LEDs so that it becomes one large screen. Promos are made specifically for this and Fortnite could of course not be left behind with the announcement of Chapter 5.
Fortnite comes with Rocket Racing (yes, from Rocket League)
We saw our characters jump to a universe where racing took place in the style of Rocket League. Not an arena, but a real circuit à la Hot Wheels, including new forms of gameplay. It is unknown what exactly it will be, but it looks like an arcade racer mode within Fortnite that was developed by Psyonix (the maker of Rocket League). We can start working on this on December 8.
From shooter to racer to music game
What’s more fun than one extra genre in Fortnite? Two additional genres in Fortnite! There will be a real Fortnite Festival, a music game as we know it from Rock Band. That sounds familiar, right? That’s right. The same developer (Harmonix) is the studio that took on the development of this branch of Fortnite. The Weeknd will kick off the first season of this new mode on December 9. This weekend we saw Eminem come out and push buttons. This will undoubtedly become a completely separate and successful segment of Fortnite.
The Big Bang battle pass, what’s in it?
Like every season and chapter, there is another battle pass that is chock full of items. This time it includes the following:
- Hope – Underground fighter (you get it right away after purchasing the pass)
- Oscar – Society-lid
- Vengeance Jones – Underground-lid
- Nisha – Society-lid
- Montague – Society-lid
- Peter Griffin – A fun crossover with Family Guy
- Valeria – The big bad of this chapter
- Solid Snake – Our great hero Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid will make an appearance. Will this be done following Metal Gear Delta next year? Who knows.
In addition, you of course have new music, loading screens, gliders, weapon skins, emotes, you name it. You have until March 8, 2024 to unlock everything. With the Christmas holidays approaching, that seems like enough time to have a blast in the new world of Fortnite.
