“Everyone has a responsibility now”

A few days ago, an era at FC Lichtenfels came to an end when Oliver Müller retired. The 57-year-old coached the Korbstadt team for more than five years and ensured that the club was never in relegation trouble in the regional league. In the seasons 2021/22 (3rd place) and 2022/23 (4th place), the Lichtenfels team was even at the top. If the eight-year state league era is not to end this summer, the knot must be broken soon. It is better to do it before the winter holidays, otherwise the mortgage will be too big.

Current assistant coach Stefan Dietz and injured captain Pascal Scholz will look after them until the end of the year at least. On Tuesday, Dietz led the first training session. “After a turbulent week, we have to drop everything out there and deliver on the pitch. Everyone is challenged now and they have to do everything for the club and the team,” Dietz told our partner portal anpfiff.info.

The Lichtenfelsers will be challenged at home on Saturday (4pm) against fourth-placed TuS Aschaffenburg-Leider.

FC Lichtenfels (18th) – TuS Unfortunately (4th)

Last weekend, Dietz took his place as “boss” on the Lichtenfels coach’s bench. But really just as a substitute, as Müller was unavailable due to illness. He could not satisfy what Dietz saw at FC Fuchsstadt. After conceding two early goals and sending off Tim Hartmann, the chase for points quickly became “mission impossible”.

“We have to go harder in the duels”

After all, the team tried to fight back against defeat for 75 minutes when they were outnumbered. Maximilian Tomasiak, who, like many of the team, is still new to the national league, was also on the pitch for 65 minutes. “We have to fight harder and win more games,” the 19-year-old said on Tuesday.

TuS Unfortunately are in excellent form and have won their last three matches comfortably. “Aschaffenburg-Leider is the favorite,” Tomasiak admits openly, but emphasizes: “We will throw everything into the balance, fight back 100 percent and try to upset put a lot on them.”

Despite the fun and the turbulent times, the mood in the team was not bad, said Tomasiak. “You can’t completely ignore the situation, but we will do our best on Saturday to get out of the last hole,” explained the motivated 19-year-old.

The Bad Staffelsteiner has another message for the fans: “I am convinced that we will get out of the current misery. We will manage to stay in the league. (hot)
