Some Czech coins and banknotes have a much higher value than face value. Anyone can have them at home.
Anyone who finds a 1993 Series A 200 kroner note in their wallet can expect a discovery worth hundreds of thousands of kroner, the so-called „Zairovku“writes the site Finex. The hallmark in this case is very simple. On a silver protective strip of classic inscription CZK is stamped “Republic of Zaire”. At the same time, it was originally a mistake of the German record seller, from whom the state printing press bought valuables, which mixed one with the inscription mentioned in the shipment of the discs.
The state of the currency determines the price
The one who gets his hands on such a banknote will earn a lot of money. In 2016, “zairovka” auction for 160 thousand crowns and this year also for 750 thousand crowns. Three-quarters of a million for two hundred is a nice valuation. The price is high also due to the fact that it is not entirely clear how many of these pieces there are entered into circulation. Estimates speak of twenty, the Finex site recalls. The banknote in question dates back to 1993, as well as another rare coin. This is the five hundred crown Z series, which was printed for damaged banknotes.
The number of pieces issued was significantly lower than in the case of a regular issue, so the value of such a banknote in good condition varies up to around 15,000 crowns, the Finex website further points out. Owners of the rare two thousand crowns can get another three thousand. Its hallmark is the year of publication 2007 and the E series. In this case, only those banknotes with serial numbers E 01 to E 23 are attractive. The total value for which they can be cashed also depends on the conditions and storage of the currency, the Finex website recalls.
Discoveries in nature
If you find a rare banknote in your wallet, you need to look for an expert. On the Internet you can find numismatic consultants or forensic experts, who will confirm the value. Not only unique banknotes are in circulation, but also coins, as reported by Události247 here. Collectors are willing to receive a rare ten 1993 crowns pay hundreds of thousands of crowns. Its difference lies in the introduction of the lowercase CZK and also in the fact that only a thousand pieces were issued. Coins of the past are also rare.
It is possible to search for them in the forests, as evidenced by the random finds reported on the site iToday. A digging dog found a small container filled with 14th-century Prague money in the woods near Vsetín. It is therefore one of the most valuable archaeological discoveries in the history of the region. A similar treasure of silverfish has also been found by mushroom pickers near Lukov Castle. The list of finds in nature does not end there. Seven thousand coins of the 16th and 17th centuries, from many European countries, were found near the village of Vysoká in the Svitavy region in the middle of a field, writes the server iToday.
