In 2020, despite the pandemic, more than 12 million speeding cases were detected by fixed and mobile speed cameras installed along French roads, according to the latest road safety statistical report. It is thus more than 6.5 million points that have been removed from the drivers’ driving licenses after a flash by one of the 4,400 automatic control devices.
Some of them have witnessed more offenses. “The speed cameras that flashed the most are fixed speed cameras, located on very heavy traffic axes”, summarizes the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (Onisr) in his report.
On this occasion, the Onisr drew up the list of the ten radars having flashed the most during the year 2020
, a radar which must have caught a certain number of holidaymakers in the act: installed on the A8 motorway at Cagnes-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes), in the Nice-Cannes direction, it flashed more than 169,000 time.

It is followed by an automatic device located in Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis), on the A1 motorway to descend towards Paris. It counted more than 130,000 flashes.
In third place, the radar located in Floirac (Gironde), on national road 230 in the Lormont-Villenave-d’Ormon direction, photographed more than 126,000 speeding motorists.
The surroundings of Paris overrepresented

The 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th places in this ranking are all occupied by radars located in the Paris region: three are installed on the A10 in Essonne, one of them on the A6a at Arcueil (Val-de-Marne) and last is in Paris on the A6b. They recorded between 119,000 and 76,000 speeding tickets.
The Bas-Rhin and the North complete this ranking
In eighth place, motorists passing between Colmar and Strasbourg were flashed 79,000 times by the automatic device located in Geispolsheim (Bas-Rhin).
Finally, the radar located on the A25 at the entrance to Lille from Dunkirk (North) closes this ranking, with all the same 74,000 flashes in 2020.
