Papua Governor Luke Enembe requested the attention of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for the events that happened to him in the form of terror, intimidation and attempts to silence him while he was in charge Papua.
Lukas expressed this concern when responding to Amnesty International Indonesia’s report regarding the Wabu Block situation, Intan Jaya at the Papua Provincial Government Liaison Agency, South Jakarta.
Lukas admitted that he was often photographed, monitored, and followed by unknown people. He asked Jokowi to see the problem that befell him as a big problem.
“Jokowi sees this, this is a big problem. Every day (I am) silenced, intimidated, where I go I am intimidated,” said Lukas, Friday (27/5).
Spokesman for the Papua Provincial Government, Muhammad Rifa’i Darus, said that Lukas was the target of hoax news every day. According to him, always
There are fake news about him.
Rifa’i then explained the various incidents of terror and intimidation experienced by Lukas. Apart from being the target of hoaxes, he said, Lukas was always monitored and followed by unknown people.
The Papuan figure is often photographed and then uploaded as hoax news or memes with immoral nuances. Luke’s movements, both as a person and as governor, are always monitored.
“He feels that he has absolutely no freedom either as a governor or as a human being,” said Rifa’i.
Another terror that Lukas experienced was when he was forbidden to fly back to Papua. At that time, Luke had to hide in the airport.
“We have to cat and mouse at the airport to be able to repatriate the Governor of Papua,” he said.
Besides being terrorized and intimidated, Lukas was also silenced by accusing him of being a member of the separatists.
Lukas’ actions and opinions are often responded to by accusing him of being a member of the Free Papua Organization.
“What he does, what he proposes, he is always intimidated by words or by accusations that he is from the Free Papua Organization,” said Rifa’i.
According to Rifa’i, Luke’s nationalism is doubtful. In fact, Luke comes from an area that has not experienced conflict turmoil and has a sense of nationalism.
“He feels that how come I am a pure NKRI then my nationalism is doubted and even I am silenced with such accusations,” said Rifa’i.
