Every time we meet – One detail stands out

On Sunday, January 1, the first episode of the thirteenth season of “Hver gang vi møtes” was released on Norwegian TV screens.

After the first season aired in 2012, the program has been a favorite with TV2’s audience. Over half a million attended the premiere on New Year’s Day.

In this year’s season, however, there is something that stands out from the past.

Dagbladet reviewed clips from all previous seasons and noted that one thing is different at this year’s table around which attendees gather.

The glasses that participants drink this year are dark in contrast to previous seasons where they were clear. Dirty glasses make it much more difficult to see the contents.

– Not knowingly

A choice represented by the stylist of the program, according to the editor of the TV2 program, Kathrine Haldorsen.

After the 2021 season 11, several people asked questions about the alcohol focus on the show. It became especially clear when artist Abdulhakim Hassane, better known as Hakeem, opened up about the fact that he didn’t drink alcohol.

It’s not uncommon for performers to enjoy something good in the glass throughout the evening while paying homage to each other.

Haldorsen, on the other hand, denies that the glass choice in this year’s season has anything to do with previous criticisms of alcohol.

– This is really not a conscious choice on our part, Haldorsen tells Dagbladet.

He says alcohol is not a major focus of the program, but that the artists are hard at work and eager to give their best. Furthermore, according to her, it is not uncommon for artists to abstain.

– They take a glass of wine or two with their meal, but are keen to be sharp. Alcohol intake is very, very low, Haldorsen says.

She has been with the production since season one over a decade ago. This year’s glass choice was made by the show’s stylist and has nothing to do with the focus on alcohol, according to Haldorsen.

– Not in the wind

Interior designer Tone Kroken tells Dagbladet that stained glass is all the rage these days.

— Preferably ruby colors like green and red glass are a lot right now, says Kroken.

On the other hand, she is more skeptical about black glasses.

– I wouldn’t say it’s in the wind. At least I haven’t used black glasses in the last year.

– Choose non-alcoholic

Øyvind Sauvik, better known by his stage name Vinni, was in the first season of ‘Every time we meet’ in 2012. When he released the book ‘The World According to Vinni’ almost 10 years later, he talked about his problems with alcohol, even while recording the popular TV2 show.

In the book he writes that he watched the entire season of “Hver gang vi metes” in half full.

The alcohol debate has also been a topic in other family-friendly programs such as NRK’s ’Master of Masters’. In 2021, the program has received criticism for sending a signal that alcohol and sports go hand in hand.

Over the past season, Øystein Pettersen was able to reveal that many of the participants chose to fill their glasses with non-alcoholic content.
