2023 will be a very special year for – and the students of the Graf-Adolf-Gymnasium immediately felt it on the first day after the Christmas holidays – or rather felt it. They were greeted with music on Monday mornings, more precisely with songs that are often played or sung on birthdays. But songs don’t just play from the speaker. “radioGAG” celebrated its premiere on Monday. And that it will not only play music, but also stream moderated posts over the coming weeks and months.
From now on, two aspects of everyday school life should also acoustically remind the school community of the fascination of the past ten decades. The school explains that here the ideas of two teachers come together who want to convey popular songs and appropriate reports using the medium of the newborn “radioGAG”.
Hits for ten decades
From now on, Daniela Weißbach will regularly broadcast musical titles and reports with the students, equipped with modern technology financed by the GAG association and connected to the GAG intercom. Well, that coincides with the project of Dr. Monika Höhl, who in recent months has embarked on a journey into the past of school life and its historical circumstances with a history course for the Abitur class, among other things to compile music titles popular, “Hits from ten decades”. In the anniversary year, these must be presented in “radioGAG” and provided with explanations.
planned actions
Framed by the musical appreciation of the centenary selected by Daniela Weißbach through the world birthday hits, two hits from the founding decade are presented.
In addition, the history class is planning some activities to celebrate the founding year, reports the GAG. Life in Germany in 1923, still marked by post-war problems and acute hyperinflation, will be staged through an exchange market for natural products and the sale of biscuits for inflation money. A “golden 20s motto day” followed by an afternoon in the cinema with the famous German silent film “Metropolis” is another offer of the Abiturientia for those interested in the school community and “all around”. Tickets worth €300m will be available, alternatively a muesli bar to give strength to the start of the preliminary stage.
