Everton transfer news: Salomon Rondon arrives at Goodison Park after Moise Kean leaves | Football news

Salomon Rondon completed a move to Everton on deadline day which sees him reunite with manager Rafa Benitez.

Rondon joins a free transfer and signed a two-year contract, with an option for a third.

He comes from Dalian, having been signed by Benitez during his time at the head of the Chinese club.

Rondon said on the Everton website: “I’m really happy to be back in the Premier League.

“It’s a competition I enjoyed playing and felt the support of the fans in every game.

“Defending the colors of a club with a history as rich as Everton’s fills me with pride. I can’t wait to put on the jersey and reunite with Rafa Benítez, a coach who has changed the way I understand the game.

“I am truly grateful for the faith he has shown in me. “

Benitez – who was named manager of Everton this summer – also worked with the Venezuela international at Newcastle during the 2018/19 season.

Rondon has scored 12 goals in 33 games at St James’ Park, while he also scored 28 goals for West Brom during his four-year stint at The Hawthorns.

The 31-year-old will help replace fellow striker Moise Kean, who left Everton to return to Juventus earlier on Tuesday.

The Italian joined the Serie A squad on a two-year loan, and Juventus are under an obligation to buy Kean for £ 24million (€ 28million).

Juventus will also pay loan fees of £ 6million (€ 7million). The total value of the transaction, including bonuses, will be £ 32.6 million (€ 38 million).
