Everton 2-0 Chelsea
Goals: Doucouré (55e) and Dobbin (90e+2) for the Toffees
The depression continues at Chelsea.
Beaten on the Everton pitch (1-0) this Sunday, Chelsea suffered a second defeat in a row in the Premier League and failed to extricate themselves from the soft underbelly. Respectively eleventh and eighteenth at kick-off, Chelsea and Everton failed to wrap up the match in a humming first act. Enzo Fernandez (4e) and Cole Palmer (15e) bring a slight thrill through Goodison Park, as does Jack Harrison (25e), but the only lessons are ultimately the injury exit of Ashley Young (41e) for the Toffeesa quarter of an hour after the relapse of Reece James (27e) for the Blues.
Sean Dyche’s men nevertheless hit the accelerator hard after returning from the locker room. Robert Sánchez spreads his wings to repel an attempt from Dwight McNeil (50e) but he can do nothing against Abdoulaye Doucouré, on the lookout after a duel won by the Chelsea goalkeeper against Dominic Calvert-Lewin (1-0, 55e). Weighed down by an irritating inaccuracy in the last 30 meters as well as by Sánchez’s injury exit at the end of the match (84e), THE Blues surrender on a final victorious strike from Lewis Dobbin (2-0, 90e+2) and are already suffering their seventh setback of the season.
Finally, it was good, this sanction for Everton.
