Everton feasts on goals thanks to Calvert Lewin’s hat-trick

Liverpool

Everton grabbed his second victory this season after smothering West Bromwich Albion 5-2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin made a hat-trick in this match.

At the match Premier League 2020/2021 which was held at Goodison Park, Saturday (19/9/2020) evening WIB, Everton fell behind first in the 10th minute when Grady Diangana broke into Jordan Pickford’s goal from distance.

For Pickford, this is the 25th time he has conceded from distance since 2017-18, the most of any goalkeeper. However, Everton responded in the 31st minute through Calvert-Lewin who scored the ball in the penalty box.

This goal was considered offside and reviewed by VAR before finally being approved. Everton turned 2-1 ahead in the 45th minute when James Rodriguez unleashed a left-footed shot that stabbed into the left corner of Sam Johnstone’s goal.

WBA’s suffering grew when manager Slaven Bilic was sent off for protesting the referee too loudly at half-time, having previously strongly protested against Kieran Gibbs’ red card. Without Bilic on the sidelines, WBA had trouble keeping up with Everton’s game.

After equalizing the score thanks to Mathes Pereira’s free-kick from 30 yards in the 46th minute, the WBA goal was broken into three times in a row by Michael Keane in the 54th minute and Calvert-Lewin’s hat-trick in the 62nd and 66th minutes.

For Dominic Calvert-Lewin, It’s a historic hat-trick as he is the first Everton player to score that many goals after Wayne Rooney faced West Ham United in November 2017.

He became the youngest English player to do so for Everton at 23 years 187 days, after Tony Cottee in August 1988 against Newcastle United, aged 23 years 47 days.

Everton won 5-2 and became the first consecutive wins at the start of the season since 2012/2013. Meanwhile, Everton controlled the top Premier League standings by six points.
