Evergreen: 20 container ships of 15,000 TEUs ordered in South Korea

Before the Ever Given blockade of the Suez Canal, the Taiwanese company Evergreen Marine Corporation decided to order 20 new 15,000 TEU container ships equipped with scrubbers, according to several specialized media. They must be delivered between the 2e quarter 2024 and June 2025.

They will be built by the Korean shipyards of Samsung Heavy Industries. Several sites in China (Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan), Korea (Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries) and Japan (Imabari), had been approached for this order which would turn around 2.5 billion dollars.

Evergreen operates a fleet of nearly 200 vessels.
