He Ministry of Health (Minsa) will present this Thursday the results of the second report on deaths by coronavirus (COVID-19), which will allow more comprehensive information to be obtained in order to bridge the gap in deaths due to this disease.

The president of the Council of Ministers, Walter Martos, explained to the plenary session of Congress on Tuesday that the Ministry of Health will present today the results of the evaluation of information on people who probably died from COVID-19 and that they are currently registered as “suspicious”.
On July 22, Minister Pilar Mazzetti presented the results of this evaluation in a first report that covered the review of suspected cases from March to June. In said periods, 3,688 new deaths from COVID-19 were found, which were added to the official count.
It is worth mentioning that the working group in charge of systematizing and analyzing the characteristics of the deceased due to COVID-19It is made up of medical epidemiological experts from the Prospective Group and the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Diseases (CDC). The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) also participate.

On the other hand, the COVID-19 Situation Room of the Minsa is currently in a process of reviewing and harmonizing the cases and deaths from COVID-19 reported throughout the country and by the regional health directorates (Diresa) and regional managements health (Geresa).
