Events for Binational Health Month in Chicago starting this #10Oct

Within the framework of Binational Health Month, the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago, United States (USA), has held a variety of events that revolve around this important public service.

The health sessions and activities are carried out for the benefit of their fellow citizens in the city.

Binational Health Month is an initiative of the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IMME) and the Ministry of Health of Mexico.

Through this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico collaborates with community organizations, federal and state agencies and volunteers in the US to benefit the health and well-being of the Mexican migrant population.

It is important to know that it has been announced that more than 40 agencies will be providing essential services, such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, diabetes, kidney health, HIV and skin cancer testing.

In a previous article we announced which activities were carried out last week and until this Wednesday, October 9.

Now you can find out the schedule of events that will be taking place starting this Thursday, October 10.

Activities from October 10 to 31

  • Information table on mental health of girls and boys – October 10

The event will be held by Erie Neighborhood House, from 9:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon.

You can attend by going to: Health Window of the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago (204 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607).

  • Porra for the Mexican and Latino runners of the Chicago Marathon – October 13:

Taking into account that Mexicans are the largest international group in the Chicago Marathon, a “Cheer Zone” will be set up.

From 8:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon, there will be music, water and Mexican flags.

The appointment will be at the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago: 204 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607.

  • Alzheimer’s Conference – October 26

This activity is carried out by Bringing the Light: Somos Ancla.

A panel of patient caregivers will share experiences caring for their loved ones and discuss resources available to caregivers.

You can attend from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at Instituto del Progreso Latino: 2555 S Blue Island, Chicago, IL 60608.

  • Light the Night – 26 octubre

A walk will be held to raise funds for leukemia and lymphoma patients, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Visitation is from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Soldier Field South Lot – 459 E. 18th Drive, Chicago, IL 60605.

  • Free kidney and diabetes tests – October 28

Free screenings organized by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois:

*Blood pressure, Blood sugar, Body mass index (BMI), Waist circumference, Urinalysis, Blood draw (if necessary).

Attendees will also be able to access a consultation with health professionals.

The care is for those over 18 years of age and fasting is not required.

  • Blood donation campaign – October 31

Organized by American Red Cross, at the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
