2020 – During the Easter holidays, the most violent tornadoes of the year hit the southeastern United States. More than 30 people die in the storms, many in the state of Mississippi. The damage is estimated at around three billion dollars.
2019 – The Federal Council approves a law for faster doctor appointments. Doctors should offer at least 25 instead of 20 hours a week for those with statutory health insurance. The regulation will come into effect in May.
2012 – More than three and a half years after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the bank plans to pay its creditors a first tranche of $22.5 billion (17.1 billion euros) in compensation. In 2012, Lehman is already back in the real estate business.
2009 – The radical Islamic Taliban murder the German-Afghan women’s rights activist Sitara Achikzai in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar.
