What happened on May 22nd?
2021 – The Nyiragongo volcano erupts near the eastern Congolese city of Goma. Within a few days, more than 30 people die and hundreds of houses are destroyed. Goma is evacuated.
2012 – The first private space transporter launches into space. The unmanned “Dragon” (dragon) brings equipment and food to the International Space Station (ISS) from Cape Canaveral in the US state of Florida. On May 31, the transporter of the Californian company SpaceX returns to Earth from the test flight.
1992 – Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl and French President Francois Mitterrand decide to form the “Eurocorps”.
