On Saturday (5 November) 30 children from Erbach participated in a football day under the guidance of seven supervisors, organized by the sports technicians of the city of Erbach, Mariusz Rutkowski and Benjamin Reimer. The day was funded by the “Sport integrates Hesse” support program.
The sports day program began with a visit to the Groß-Umstadt football hall, where the children were able to participate in a small tournament with four teams. Then the group, consisting of the children of the FSV Erbach E-Youth football team and the football-loving girls of the youth club, set off in coach to the MEWA Arena in Mainz.
In front of the stadium the boys had time to try a goal wall and win some meal vouchers, which were redeemed immediately after having lunch together. The group then used the 37 free tickets provided by the 1. FSV Mainz 05 to watch the Bundesliga match between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and VfL Wolfsburg. For many of the children who took part, this was the first Bundesliga match they could see live in a stadium with 27,000 spectators.
The two sports coaches Mariusz Rutkowski and Benjamin Reimer pursue the goal of giving disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to become part of a group through sporting activities and to experience unforgettable moments. The focus is on social interaction and fun with sport. Projects of this type are therefore also planned for next year.
