Event for the 40th anniversary of the Department of Traditional Dances of the Spiritual Center – 2024-02-18 13:26:30

Following the custom for the “good year”, the anniversary and 40^the since its establishment, the adult dancers of the Department of Traditional Dances of the Municipality of Ioannina have cut the king cake on the premises of the School, at the end of Kourambas Park. The official guest was the new Deputy Mayor of Culture, Cultural Affairs and Events of the Municipality of Ioannina, Mr. Minas Paschopoulos, who is materially responsible for the specific Department after the abolition of legal entities and their integration into the Municipality.

In their welcome, after the blessing and cutting of the pie by father Christos Ioannou, the people in charge of the Complex, dance teachers and physical education teachers Mr Ilias Gartzonikas and Nikos Nousias, after wishing everyone health and a creative year, reported to the new responsible Deputy Mayor their general objectives for 2024.

In his opposition, Mr. Paschopoulos, after conveying the greetings of the Mayor, Mr. Th. Bega, praised the course and long-term contribution of the Group, effectively constituting an “ambassador of culture” of Ioannina. At the same time, he emphasized his intention to assist in every possible way in the creative process and the realization of short-term and long-term goals. The gift to the lucky winner of the king cake was for another year, an artistic creation of the dancer Ms. Haras Houliaras. The event ended, naturally, with traditional dances and songs by Mr. V. Papageorgiou, G. Patsoura, V. Tsika, D. Papanastasiou, S. Dramali and Ap. Dougali.

The Department of Traditional Dances of the Municipality of Ioannina is a multi-centre of activities with events in various fields of Folk Culture and hundreds of performances in Greece and abroad. A large number of student-dancers of all ages have collaborated with him, while his awards and distinctions are significant.
