EVENING NEWS. Singer Atis Auzāns once thought of getting into the construction business

“When nobody needed us, musicians, during the pandemic, I gave up. But the invitation to join the “Latvijas radio 2″ team brought me back to music,” says singer and producer Atis Auzāns happily. On January 6, he celebrated his 52nd birthday.

“I am pleased to join the team of “Latvijas radio 2”, says Atis Auzāns, a moment before his birthday. Currently, he is in charge of the Monday and Wednesday program “Diena” from 13:00 to 15:00 and the Sunday program from 16:00 to 19:00.

“During the empty years, I already had the idea that maybe I should put music aside and start building houses, because I also understand a lot about those things and I also like them. But life arranges everything by itself – suddenly such conditions arise that put you back on the tracks on which you have to continue moving forward. Yes, the work at “Latvijas radio 2″ brought me back to music – I again became very interested in everything that sounds,” admits the stage artist loved by the audience. He says that since last summer, when he just started working on the radio, he devoted all his free time to music again – he wrote new songs and made new song arrangements. And this, in turn, also means that this year Atis Auzāns and his “Famous Jersika Orchestra” have decided to return to the stage.

“During the pandemic, the “Famous Jersika Orchestra” did nothing, but now we have started new songs, new arrangements and are seriously preparing to properly celebrate our ten-year anniversary. Top new program, I think that by the summer I will have already polished it and we will make ourselves felt again”, says Atis Auzāns. “You can party well to our music, so we think of offering not only concerts, but also the opportunity to have a good time.”

Looking back at the year 2022, the jubilee concludes that, like other years, it was not at all to blame. “Even when we lived in bans, without analyzing how justified or unjustified, there were more pluses than minuses. I could function at home, I could use my time practically. I had big plans – I wanted to continue building the second floor, but it has been postponed, because now my time is occupied by work on the radio. Little by little, however, I have learned to divide my time, preparing in time for the broadcasts. And also the excitement before going on the air is no longer as great as it was at the beginning,” adds the host of “Latvijas radio 2” programs with a smile.
