“There are some 15-20 popular diets that circulate, but the most effective is one: eat less!” says the well – known bodybuilder Maris Šveiduks. He kills all the ingrained myths about and around nutrition, saying that the truth, just like everything ingenious, is quite simple: it all depends on how many calories we take in and how much we consume.
Cholesterol at normal levels
“All bodybuilders are good cooks, because we look very much at what and how we eat. The kitchen is also related to me, »says Māris Šveiduks, twelve-time Latvian champion in bodybuilding and bodybuilding, two-time world champion in fitness, World Masters Games champion in beach volleyball, winner of the Baltic TV reality / survival show« Robinsoni »and Liepāja fitness club« Gym Lāč »Founder and owner. In his family, the bustle in the kitchen is divided: since Maris is a “lark”, he always prepares breakfast, his wife prepares lunch, and dinner both together or separately, depending on the energy consumption of the day.
“Since I eat at least six times a day, there is quite a lot of food in the kitchen. In fact, we rarely eat outside the house, we basically cook ourselves, »says the famous bodybuilder, revealing that he likes a leisurely breakfast – a slow rush to the day’s activities. “I cook breakfast for about half an hour, then eat for half an hour – like in a good Italian family,” he determines with a smile and reveals that every morning he eats an omelette and four small buns, but – each different. “For me, a slice of bread is a little bigger than Selga’s cookie, and I need each bun to both look and taste different. And that means putting on them, for example, a variety of cheeses, cottage cheese, pate, dried meat. And each has its own garnish – cucumber, tomato, some greens. “
Maris emphasizes: it is a myth that bodybuilders eat only white from eggs. Yolk also has a lot of necessary and good – both vitamins and healthy omega fatty acids. He kills another myth with his example that eating a lot of eggs raises cholesterol levels. “Contrary to the fact that doctors and nutritionists say that you should not eat more than three eggs a week, I have been eating three or four eggs a day for forty years. And my cholesterol is normal! ”
