Although Gable was not a novice actor, his most famous role was in the screenplay of Reth Butler’s Margaret Mitchell’s The Wind, which premiered in January 1939 in Atlanta. Gable was immediately accepted for the role of Butler. He was so convincing that nothing could be added or taken away. He was nominated for an Oscar for this role for the third and final time. In 1989, the film was entered in the National Film Register.

Those who knew about the difficult relationship between the two actors on the set were convinced that sooner or later they would fall in love with each other. That did not happen. In the personal lives of both of them, everything was in order and there was no need to look for passion outside of it.
When the film came out on screen and had to go on commercials, the director prayed that the grumpy couple would hate for a few hours so that people would believe that a romance like Reth and Scarlet’s was possible in life … Gable and Lee didn’t agree to pretend – filming is over, they no longer have to act …
