It should be understood that this natural way of feeding babies can be considered for them as their first vaccine, since in reality it provides both nutritional and psychological benefits as well as immunological, highlights Dr. Brenda Guadalupe Becerra Ramírez, specialist in pediatrics at the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) in Coahuila.

In that sense, he commented that in the cases of mothers who have been diagnosed with Covid-19, it is safe to continue with the technique as long as face masks are used and the specifications provided in the IMSS clinics are followed, such as personal hygiene. and use of exclusive clothing for this activity.
He explained that those who breastfeed when they suffer or have suffered from the disease transmit antibodies against this and other viruses, for that reason he insisted on the relevance of implementing the well-known hygiene measures such as correct hand washing, use of face masks, sneezing or label coughing.

Breast milk is known to be the most protective factor in preventing infectious diseases, such as diarrhea, influenza, and pneumonia, and non-infectious diseases such as overweight and obesity. Regarding the benefits for the mother, they highlight the reduction in the chances of immediate obstetric hemorrhage, of suffering from breast or ovarian cancer.
On a permanent basis, through the IMSS units, the promotion of this technique is carried out safely and with protection and hygiene measures for the baby and his mother in this stage of health emergency.
