Even with a tax certificate without a national registration number, you can still get a tax benefit for donating to charity

FPS Finance is convinced that linking the national register number to grants has significant benefits for the taxpayer. For this reason, the same thing is already happening with other expenses that entitle you to tax relief, such as childcare expenses.

“Today we cannot connect about 20 percent of all donations to the correct donor and therefore cannot automatically enter them in the proposal for simplified verification. The only key to solving that problem is the national registry number. This should ensure that we can fill in donations in advance for everyone,” said spokesman Francis Adyns.

He also thinks the joke is pointless. “Other data such as a donor’s name and address had to be provided for much longer. This is equally sensitive information that must be held with the same amount of care.”

But anyone who uses a tax certificate without a national registration number from 2025 will not lose out on the tax benefit. “This is because this duty only applies to the organizations and not to the taxpayers themselves. I think there is a difference between designing the certificate on the one hand, and providing the electronic data to the tax authorities on the other,” reasons.
