The dog was trapped in a den on Visserssteeg near Beerschoten Estate, east of De Bilt. The owner saw the animal, named Flea, disappear down a rabbit hole and, despite much yelling, did not come back. The fire brigade was then alerted.

The firefighters of the fire brigade in Bilthoven were unable to get the dog out of the den. He was uninjured, but a little frightened by the crowds. Finally, the adventure ended early in the evening and found him reappearing.
