The German state of Baden-Württemberg is tightening its corona rules again: The so-called “alert level II”, which brings these restrictions with it, should apply if there are more than 450 Covid 19 patients in the intensive care units for two days in a row. On Monday there were already 489 intensive care patients in Baden-Württemberg. It is expected that the limit will also be exceeded on Tuesday.
Therefore, 2G is to be introduced across the board from tomorrow Wednesday, including in retail. This means that people who have not been vaccinated or recovered will no longer have access. Shops for daily needs such as supermarkets or drugstores are excluded. This was confirmed by Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann and State Minister of Health Manfred Lucha at a press conference in Stuttgart on Tuesday afternoon.
2G + at public events
Meanwhile, the country wants to go one step further at public events, which also include Christmas markets: They are supposed to take place, but 2G + is to be introduced there from Wednesday. This means: Those who want to be admitted must show a daily Covid rapid test in addition to their complete vaccination protection or recovery. A PCR test can be 48 hours old.
In addition, the new regulation also brings with it nocturnal curfew. In “hotspots” there should be nocturnal exit restrictions for unvaccinated people if the seven-day incidence in their area is over 500. There are currently such restrictions in three districts, but as soon as the regulation comes into force, a total of 21 districts in Baden-Württemberg would be affected. Then, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., unvaccinated people would only be allowed to go outside in exceptional cases. Baden-Württemberg had already introduced exit restrictions last winter, but these had been overturned by several courts.
The district of Waldshut and the district of Konstanz, which border directly on the region, would not be affected for the time being, since the so-called 7-day incidence there is currently (as of November 23) at 363 and 342, respectively.
