Demand exceeded all forecasts.
Many of those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 5 at Amazon have begun to receive disturbing emails warning of possible delays in receiving the goods. The notice reads:
“You may not receive this product on the day of release due to the increased demand. We will do our best to deliver your purchase as soon as it becomes available. “
While Sony claims that more PS5s will be shipped to stores than were the case with the PS4, many of the logistical problems caused by the pandemic are not eliminated. It is also unknown how well domestic retail chains will process orders.
