even a significant part of the local left would replace the left-wing city management – Dunakanyar Region

Let’s protect Vác! right-wing, left-wing and independent public leaders from Vác signed a joint statement entitled Former MPs from MSZP and Fidesz, regime-change right-wing and radical left-wing mayors, independent mayoral candidates and local civil leaders jointly claim: Vác has never been in worse hands than the current left-wing city administration since the regime change – writes vaconline.hu.

“We, the undersigned, never thought that we would ever sign a joint public statement. We think radically differently about issues of public life as right-wingers, left-wingers or civilians. Now we have to make our voices heard together, because since 2019, Vác has been governed by the worst management of the last three decades,” the unusual joint document begins.

He signed the joint declaration Bence of Rétvár KDNP parliamentarian Vác and Ferenc Bartos Regime-changing mayor of Vác; János Both Former MSZP mayor and parliamentarian of Vác; Eva Papp former electoral district chairman of the DK, chairman of the Together for the City Association; István Néveri lawyer, former independent mayoral candidate; Tamá from Vásárhelyand former civil mayor candidate, member of the Közön a Várossért Egyesület; Károly Csereklye municipal representative of the Vác City Election Association; Imre Szádoczki the president of Fidesz in Vác; Csaba Szabo president of Fidelitas in Vác; Zsolt Imre former Fidesz member of parliament, head of the Váci Civic Forum; Balázs Lukács the president of the Civic Entrepreneurs and Danube Bend Association; János Turai head of the Duna-Ipoly-Galga Holocaust Education Center; Gábor Kucsák master bookbinder; László Papp head of the Modern Art Collection.

Such a broad joint declaration has never been created in Vác’s post-regime history, and there has never been an example of such broad agreement across parties.

According to the signatories of the statement, “the surrounding settlements have undergone an unprecedented development in recent years. In the meantime, Vác renounced billions of government resources, as if the aim of the city leaders was not to develop their settlement, but to create political tension. Due to a lack of competence, the Matkovich regime is not devoting its greatest energies to urban development, but rather to political wrangling and threats in the town hall. Meanwhile, the reputation of our city has been falling for years.”

The signatories put it clearly and sharply: “Ilona Matkovich his regime piles scandal upon scandal. Unbridled privatization, appropriation of city assets, tax increases, aggressive style and corruption do not serve the interests of the city. The city’s fortunes are declining, while the fortunes of the city leader’s family are skyrocketing. The trust of the people of Vatsia in the city leaders is constantly decreasing,” they wrote.

According to those participating in the coalition, “the Nazi and pervert representatives should not be protected by the city administration, but should be dismissed. Dialogue and consensus should not be talked about, but done for. Urban sports and culture should not be destroyed, but should be helped. Normal public relations would be necessary in Vác. But for this Matkovich Ilona and his allies are unable. We ask all sane citizens of Vác to protect our beloved city, Vác!” – the signatories urge the residents of the city to replace the city administration.

Not only in Vác, but also in Hungarian political history, it is rare for a city manager to be publicly rejected from all sides after four years of activity. Ilona Matkovich the left-wing mayor’s activities are also harmful to the city according to left- and right-wing parties, independents and local patriotic civilians.
