Heartbreaking story

A hearing began in the Sullivan County Criminal Court last week.

Reported missing after two months

Evelyn Boswell was last seen alive in December 2019.

Conflicting explanations

Refused to say where it was

In questioning, Megan Boswell said the girl was visiting her father, who lives in another state, but he wasn’t.

He later said the girl was camping with her grandmother. Not even her.

Eventually he admitted that Evelyn was dead, but that it had all been an accident.

According to the FBI, she admitted she disposed of the body in a garbage can, but refused to say where.

Thrown in the trash

In March 2020, the girl was found dead in a plastic bag. The bag had been thrown into a bin in a warehouse.

The warehouse building belongs to Evelyn Boswell’s grandfather, the father of defendant Megan Boswell.

– We got a phone call from the defendant’s father talking about a property. He thought he might be worth a look and search, so we did it. There was a theater there, and behind that we found the body, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Fraley explained in court last week.

When Evelyn was found, she was wearing a purple fleece dress with penguins on it.

She was wrapped in a gray and white blanket.

Deny the blame

Megan Boswell is adamant that the death was an accident.

– She and her boyfriend were sleeping in the same bed at that time, and when they woke up the next morning she was unconscious. She had been suffocated, Fraley told the court.

The police don’t believe it.

Coroners concluded that Evelyn died of suffocation, but …

It wasn’t an accidental choking. It was a murder, coroner Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan told the court and continued:

– This was not a baby who died in his sleep. It was too big for that.
