It’s a beautiful dream come true. It’s a show I’ve always loved.
Having just celebrated her 50th birthday, Ève-Marie Lortie is realizing a great professional dream: to sit in the host’s chair of the popular morning show Hello Hello. The new fifty-year-old’s assessment could not be more positive: she is about to take on an exciting professional challenge, she is supported by her lover of the last 15 years, her daughter is making her way in journalism, and she can count on a loving family. The only downside: the sudden death of her mother. Diagnosed with cancer on July 16, she requested medical assistance in dying on August 15.
Eve-Marie talks about her arrival at the helm of Salut Bonjour
Almost 30 years ago, when I was a young viewer and a novice journalist, I dreamed of joining this team. I wanted to do my job rigorously, but also in a good mood, with a team that has fun and is among the best.
In an interview with 7 daysÈve-Marie Lortie reveals that she wants to make a smooth arrival at the helm of Salut Bonjour. After the departure of Gino Chouinard, the journalist confides that she would like to take the time to take on this new position. Passionate about her job, Ève-Marie reveals that she has always loved morning TV, which fits well with her energy.
People know me too, but they haven’t seen me every day. I want us to give each other time, like a mutual taming.

Eve-Marie Lotrie had to make big adjustments in her personal life
To prepare to take over the helm of Salut Bonjour, Ève-Marie had to review her organization within her life as a couple. This adjustment is significant, but the journalist reveals that her partner’s support is unwavering, allowing her to begin this new professional stage in a serene manner.
We both operate with each other’s happiness in mind and we support each other. Right now, I’m experiencing immense joy! I’m lucky to have a spouse who encourages and supports me.

Eve-Marie in mourning before the return of Salut Bonjour
In addition to preparing for the start of the school year and her move, Ève-Marie devoted her summer to her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer on July 16 and died a month later, on August 15, 2024. Having requested medical assistance in dying, she left with dignity, at the time she had chosen. “There were tears too, but not from her.” This difficult mourning will take time, and Ève-Marie knows it well.
I am giving myself time to cherish the beautiful moments I have had with her in recent years. I am being indulgent with myself. I am in no hurry to go through this grief.
Please join us in extending our condolences and support to Ève-Marie Lotrie during this difficult time. We wish her as smooth a return to school as possible.
