MISS FRANCE – End of the drum roll. This Saturday, December 16, Indira Ampiot passed the torch to Eve Gilles, newly elected Miss France 2024 at the end of the 94th edition of the famous beauty contest, broadcast live from Dijon on TF1 and presented by Jean-Pierre Foucault.

Miss Nord Pas-de-Calais was elected 50/50 by the public and a jury chaired this year by Sylvie Tellier, also exclusively composed of women for the first time. Among them, the model Adriana Karambeu, the actress Stéfi Celma, the singer Nolwenn Leroy, the pastry chef Nina Métayer, the boxer Estelle Mossely and the comedian Élodie Poux.

Miss Guyana, Miss Provence, Miss Guadeloupe and Miss Languedoc won the titles of first, second, third and fourth runners-up respectively.

The election of Miss Nord Pas-de-Calais was preceded by a tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay, the “lady in the hat” and historical figure of the competition, who died in August at the age of 90. It was also the site of a handover, with the producer of the ceremony Frédéric Gilbert succeeding Alexia Laroche-Joubert as president of the Miss France Society.

Miss France in the audiences

The latter will have contributed to a certain overhaul of Miss France, by modernizing the criteria for participation in the competition, such as the lifting of the age limit of 24 or the ban on tattoos, as well as the possibility for married women and mothers of children to participate.

The show, which provides TF1 with big audiences each year, however saw its score drop for the second year in a row with 7.1 million viewers and a peak at 8.1 million during the coronation in 2022, compared to 7.3 and 8.8 million in 2021.
