At the age of 22, Eva was diagnosed with lung cancer and now also has metastases in her head. On Tuesday evening we see how she is anxiously waiting for an important phone call. When she calls the doctor, it turns out that things are not right. “The MRI of your head was not good,” he informs her. The new medication does not appear to work and the cancer continues to grow. This leaves Eva with only one option: starting chemotherapy.
Not much confidence in chemo
The news is very difficult for Eva and it is clear that it is too much for her. Eva knows that it will only go downhill from here. “They expect me to have another year if the chemo works. That is still a relatively long time, but I do not have much confidence in chemo,” she says with tears in her eyes. When Tim asks what will happen if she doesn’t take chemo, her husband Matthijs says that ‘it will go very quickly’. “Then we are really talking about months.” Yet Eva remains positive: “I will make it to Christmas.”
Always keep smiling
Eva admits that she particularly dreads hair loss. She has therefore already made an appointment at a hair store to choose a beautiful wig. “So I have a choice. Am I going bald today, with a hat or with hair?” Not much later it turns out that she can still see the fun in it. When she gives herself a bald head via Snapchat, she is shocked.
