Due to her statements, many fans want Evangeline Lilly out of the UCM
canadian actress Evangeline Lilly joined to Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2015 with his debut in the first film of Ant-Man Interpreting Hope van Dyne. Lilly brings to life the daughter of Ant Man and the Avispa originals, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) y Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer)who takes the place of her mother and becomes a companion of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), the new Ant-Man. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be Lilly’s fourth film in the UCM.
Lately, Evangeline Lilly has been making headlines unrelated to the UCM due to the new health measures that Canada is implementing in relation to Covid-19. The Canadian government currently requires staff members to be vaccinated, and if they were not vaccinated by October 29, 2021, they would be placed on administrative leave without pay.
In response to these vaccination mandates, a series of protests and blockades calling themselves the Freedom Convoy began in Canada in January. Lilly also opposed the vaccination mandates, posting on Instagram that she supported the cause of the convoy and was attending a rally in Washington D.C..
Evangeline Lilly addressed Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau in a video posted by Bridge City News, a program that has been closely following the Freedom Convoy, urging him to sit down with protesters. Lilly’s message provoked a reaction from fans of the Marvel and some even Lilly was asked to leave the MCU.
The actress who plays the Avispa has been creating controversy since the beginning of the pandemic. In March 2020, Lilly declared that he would refuse to social distance for fear of “a respiratory flu”, but later withdrew this statement after a backlash from fans and apologized to those suffering from the virus. Despite that apology, Lilly has continued to express her views on the pandemic, even attributing the difficulty she felt filming Quantumania to social distancing practices.
