Evaluation of the educational program of Bachelor of Medicine begins, campus Valles

The evaluation is carried out virtually by the Health Sciences committee

San Luis Potosí, SLP.- With the presence of the rector of the UASLP, Dr. Alejandro Javier Zermeño Guerra, the evaluation work began for the Bachelor of Medicine, offered by the Faculty of Professional Studies Huasteca Zone (FEPZH).

In the event that took place virtually, the campus director Isaac Lara Azuara; Francisco Montes de Oca Garro, executive member of the Health Sciences committee of the CIEES; Jorge Alberto Pérez González, Academic Secretary of the UASLP; and the coordinator of the educational program, Aguilmar Fernando Pozos Guillen.

The program was created in 2011 and has three generations of graduates, an essential condition to be evaluable.

The evaluation is carried out virtually by the Health Sciences committee, belonging to the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES) and will be from December 7 to 9, 2020, by Francisco Montes de Oca .

The peer evaluators for the Bachelor of Medicine are made up of doctors: Alan Maximiliano de los Santos Bernal from Westhill University (UW) in Mexico City, as coordinator; William Humberto Ortiz Briceño, from the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ); and María del Carmen Macías Ballesteros from the Veracruzana University (UV).

In his message, Dr. Alejandro Zermeño, stated that the Autonomous University of San Luis has tried to have evaluations by academic peers, for which he assured: “Your visit is of great value so that they review, express opinions and have a different vision , all with the aim of making things better ”.

“We are true believers in external evaluations, the opinions of academic peers, and evaluating institutions; that is why quality in the University has always tried to promote the culture of evaluation ”.

He pointed out that, unlike other degrees, those in the health areas have a special requirement, “this makes for an adequate terminal efficiency in terms of qualification.”

He added that the training of doctors is aimed at general medicine, and considered improving the first level of medical care to strengthen the health system of the country that needs a solid foundation to aspire to better levels.

In turn, Francisco Montes de Oca Garro, executive member of the Health Sciences Committee of the CIEES, thanked the Institution for having selected them as one of the organizations that can enter the educational program of the Bachelor of Medicine, to use instruments and schemes for the sake of conducting an assessment for accreditation purposes.

For his part, Isaac Lara Azuara highlighted that the external accreditation of an educational undergraduate program, “is the public recognition granted by an accrediting body, non-governmental, in the sense that it meets certain criteria, indicators and parameters of quality in its structure, organization, operation, inputs, teaching processes, services and their results. It also means that the program has social relevance ”.

He added that with this evaluation, “it is guaranteed that the program enters a circle of continuous improvement, since the contributions that the evaluators give us will be an input to improve the educational processes of said program, in addition to that we are accountable to society. by submitting to external evaluation processes ”.

Also present at this event were MA Maricela Ramírez Zacarías, Director of Evaluation and Prospective of the Academic Secretariat; Dra. Sara Berenice Orta, Secretary General; Dr. Carlos Arcudia, academic secretary, of the Faculty of Professional Studies Zona Huasteca (FEPZH), respectively.
