Jakarta –
Even though the price has been cut by Rp. 7 million, subsidized electric motorbikes are still lacking in demand. For this reason, the government will evaluate the regulations related to these subsidies.
Subsidized electric motorbikes are still lacking in enthusiasts. If you pay attention to the Information System for Providing Assistance for the Purchase of Two-Wheeled Electric Vehicles (SISAPIRa) page, only 36 electric motorbikes have been distributed. Even though in 2023, the government targets to be able to distribute 200,000 units of the subsidized electric motorbikes.
The choice of electric motorbike models that get a discount of Rp. 7 million is actually not small. It is recorded that there are 25 electric motorbikes that can get this relief with varying price tags. Unfortunately, all this is not enough to interest the public in proposing subsidized electric motorbikes.
Not without reason, the requirement to buy a subsidized motorbike is considered burdensome. As stipulated in Regulation of the Minister of Industry no.6 of 2023, the conditions for recipients of electric motorbike subsidies are recipients of KUR (People’s Business Credit), recipients of Micro Business Productive Assistance (BUPM), recipients of wage subsidy assistance, and recipients of electricity subsidies up to 900 VA. To find out if the consumer meets the requirements, a NIK check will be carried out on the SISAPIRa website.
Realizing that there are still minimal subsidized electric motorbike enthusiasts, the government will conduct an evaluation. The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, explained that he was still investigating the low public interest in subsidized electric motorbikes.
“We will evaluate the reasons. Later we will see what kind of government assistance is for electric cars, electric motorbikes. We will see if there are things that can be improved,” Agus said as quoted by Antara.
The evaluation that Agus meant will be carried out on all sides starting from policies, prices, schemes, and also distribution patterns. It is hoped that the evaluation will be completed soon so that it can be implemented this year.
“So we also want to ensure that the government’s assistance program for electric vehicles for both cars and motorbikes this year can run well and therefore an evaluation will be carried out. An evaluation will definitely be carried out so that this government assistance program can be carried out,” he added.
It has been four months running, the remaining electric motorbike subsidy quota is still very large, namely 198,772. As for the products, they are offered at various prices starting from IDR 5 million.
