Evacuation orders: Hurricane Milton heading towards Florida, USA –

Washington/Prensa Latina

More than 23 million people are today threatened by the imminent arrival of Hurricane Milton in the southern US state of Florida, the second to make landfall in that part of the country in less than two weeks.

This Tuesday, airports such as Tampa’s closed, a city where its mayor, Jane Castor, sent a clear message the day before: “I can say without any dramatization, if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die.”

Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located, issued mandatory evacuation orders for those in Zones A and B, as well as those living in mobile homes, according to local media reports.

Milton weakened to a category 4 hurricane early this Tuesday, but forecasts indicate that it will regain strength to return to category 5 during the day. The powerful weather event is expected to hit Florida’s Gulf Coast tomorrow, and experts warn that the dangerous eye and its wall could fall anywhere from Cedar Key to Naples, possibly including the Tampa or Fort Myers areas.

On September 26, Helene devastated the Gulf Coast of Florida with a storm surge and hit the Big Bend as a Category 4 hurricane. Six states in the southeastern region of the United States attest to its devastating effects.

According to Florida residents, the collection of debris from the previous meteor has not yet concluded and that is a serious threat in the current circumstances, because the force of Milton’s winds would turn that debris into flying objects, almost projectiles.

Authorities continue to ask residents in compromised areas to evacuate or prepare for another potentially deadly storm.

The forum “Latinos Ask… Donald Trump Responds” organized by the Hispanic network Univision and was scheduled for October 8 was postponed to the 17th due to ‘Milton’.

At the meeting, former President Donald Trump must answer questions from undecided Hispanic voters about the economy, jobs, health care, immigration and foreign policy.

The news network invited the two candidates (Democratic and Republican) to hold this event separately. The forum “Los Latinos Ask… Kamala Harris Responds” to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, maintains its original broadcast date of Thursday.

Hurricane Milton is moving at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour and will cross almost all of Florida from west to east starting tomorrow, the United States National Hurricane Center reported.
