Evacuation of the body of a climber suspected of being Ambarwati on Mount Lawu is hampered by weather

Jakarta

A woman was found dead in the Geger Boyo area, Mount Lawu. The woman’s body has not been identified because it is still waiting for the results of the forensic laboratory team’s report.

Karanganyar SAR Headquarters Commander Arif Sukro Yunianto said that until this afternoon two teams had been dispatched to evacuate the bodies. The number of personnel dispatched was around 30 joint volunteers.

“Until now, the bodies have not arrived at the Cemoro Kandang Post,” said Arif, reported detikJatengMonday (30/1/2023).

Arif said the weather was an obstacle to the long evacuation process. Because last night there was heavy rain on the hiking trail and from morning to noon the condition of the hiking trails was reported to be foggy.

Arif could not confirm whether the body found was Gati Ambarwati (31), a resident of Rejomulyo, Kartoharjo, City of Madiun, East Java Province, or not. Because, from the hiking trail via Cemoro Kandang, Cemoro Sewu, and Cetho Temple there were no reports of Gati Ambarwati climbing Mount Lawu.

“We can’t decide yet. We are waiting for the results of the forensic laboratory,” he said.
