Evacuation of Foreign Nationals from Sudan Begins Amid Bloody Battles

Riyadh, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has begun preparing to evacuate Saudi citizens and a number of nationals of Arab and friendly countries.

Today, Saturday, the Sudanese army announced the start of procedures for the evacuation of foreign missions and nationals of countries wishing to do so, after discussions that took place between the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the heads of a number of countries regarding facilitating and ensuring the evacuation process.

The Saudi mission was evacuated by land to Port Sudan and from there by air to the Kingdom, and the departure of the Jordanian mission will be secured in the same way.

With the bloody battles entering its second week, several countries decided to evacuate their nationals from Sudan, and to take advantage of the fragile truce period to evacuate their citizens.

The Rapid Support Forces have indicated their willingness to help reopen airports to facilitate evacuations.

The United Nations, the United States, Britain, Japan, Switzerland, South Korea, Sweden and Spain are discussing plans to remove their employees from Khartoum.

The German army begins its preparations for a new attempt to evacuate German nationals from Sudan, after the failure of a previous attempt, due to the seriousness of the security situation on the ground.

Western countries and China will evacuate their diplomats and nationals with military transport planes belonging to those countries.
