After her return to public broadcasting, Eva Jinek will return in the evening. This is what several sources in Hilversum tell this site. Her arrival should revive the popular time of 7 p.m.
Eva Jinek (45) recently announced her surprising transfer. She will leave RTL at the end of this year and signed a four-year contract with AvroTros. Next year she will make a new program for this broadcaster in which current affairs and culture are central. Although AvroTros kept the time slot of this new show in the middle, several sources in Hilversum confirm that it is the intention that Jinek will take care of the evening.
Jinek, who will give birth to her second child at the end of September, can in principle start working for the public broadcaster in January. However, her intended spot on the eve clashes with BNNVara talk show Khalid & Sophie who are contracted for the 7pm timeslot until May 2024. When asked, a spokesperson for BNNVara says that it must be ‘very crazy’ when Khalid & Sophie has to make way for Jinek’s new show in January. “There is a commitment from the NPO until May 2024 on this time slot. In addition, an editor has also been hired who has signed a contract until May. Adjusting the schedule would also be unworkable for the editors,” says BNNVara.
Op1
One of the options – which BNNVara does not want to anticipate – is that talk show Khalid & Sophie will be moved to the late evening, which automatically means that it will take the place of talk show Op1. Op1 is on air until the end of this year, but after that the future is uncertain. There has been speculation for some time about the end of this talk show. The ratings are falling, presenters come and go and things are rumbling behind the scenes. Broadcaster BNNVara recently withdrew from Op1 after a conflict in the workplace.
In recent years, all kinds of new shows have been launched at the popular time of 7 p.m. – think of De eve, M, Khalid & Sophie and Nadia – but none of those programs became as popular as De Wereld Draait Door, the program by Matthijs van Nieuwkerk that discontinued in 2020. This daily talk show averaged one million viewers or more for twelve of its fifteen seasons.
Newcomer Nadia, presented by Nadia Moussaid, did not catch on with viewers. On Monday it was announced that Moussaid may continue with her talk show, but in a less prominent place in the broadcast schedule. She leaves her daily spot on NPO 1 and can be seen weekly on NPO 3 from October at an as yet unknown time.
