Eva Jinek is leaving RTL and will return to public broadcasting from next year, it was announced last week. The presenter is financially deteriorating enormously with the switch, but Johan Derksen can well understand Jinek’s choice.
Jinek is on the RTL payroll for about 1.2 million euros per year, as revealed former RTL boss Fons van Westerloo in 2019. The talk show host will reportedly have to settle for an annual salary of around 200,000 euros at the NPO, but Derksen nevertheless speaks of a logical step.

“I actually understand it very well,” says the former football player and television personality in conversation with Show news. “Eva is a vain type. She has misjudged herself a bit On the commercial ones. She was amazed at the salaries at the commercials: they are of course much more attractive than at the public broadcaster.”
Jinek is now expecting a second child, after she became a mother for the first time five years ago. “She now thinks: I choose eggs for my money, in combination with the fact that a second child is now on the way,” Derksen continues about the approaching switch of the presenter. “If you want to be a good mother with two children, you cannot have a daily talk show. You are on all day: you follow the news, you call your editors. Then she has to be satisfied with the Balkenende standard, but that is still a huge salary for the average Dutchman. “
