EV Landshut wins narrowly against EHC Freiburg

Reading time: approx. 2 minutes

The EV Landshut confirmed the last strong form and got three important points in the fight for the last playoff places in the DEL2. In the end, EHC Freiburg had to admit defeat. The final result in the Landshut Fanatec Arena was 2:1.

The fans in Landshut could look forward to a balanced and exciting game. In addition to the game, there was also reason for joy for the spectators, who were now allowed to return to the standing areas of the Landshut stadium. The guests from Freiburg, who only had the same number of points ahead of Landshut in the table because of the better quotient, had to do without their coach in addition to Scott Allen. He was handed a suspension after the argument in the last game.

The game started very competitively and without major interruptions. Both goalkeepers got shots on their goal but kept calm and were able to fend off everything. In the meantime, both teams had to make do with four men after Luca Trinkberger and Yannick Valenti got in each other’s way and were sent to the cool box. But even with more space on the ice, neither team brought anything countable on the scoreboard. The first third ended goalless.

In the middle section, both teams came back onto the ice with a lot of power and fighting spirit. After another penalty against the EVL, the guests from Breisgau took advantage of the majority situation and took the lead with a goal from Alexander Brückmann. However, the hosts were by no means upset. Patrik Cerveny was unable to pin a shot by Brandon Alderson and also had to concede the first goal after Thomas Holzmann’s shot. The game, which was open again as a result, remained fast and quite entertaining. The second third ended with an extremely hard check from Andreas Schwarz, who unfortunately pushed Nikolas Linsemaier into the rink. Linsemaier then had to be accompanied by the ice and was taken to the hospital for further examination.

The last third started with a five-minute majority for Freiburg. But Landshut remained extremely disciplined and played down the manpower cleverly and without conceding a goal. The home side were then also successful in the power play just a little later. Sahir Gill dusted off in front of the goal and put Lower Bavaria in the lead. The subsequent attack by the wolves went unrewarded, also because they made life difficult for themselves with several penalties towards the end of the game. EV Landshut thus achieved an important home win and climbed up to eighth place in the table. Freiburg, on the other hand, slips to ninth place. Both teams will be back on the ice on Tuesday. EHC Freiburg has to go to Kaufbeuren, while EV Landshut receives the Heilbronner Falke again at home.
