For the sake of chips, the EU wants to break open its own rules if necessary
According to German media, the government in Berlin has pledged 5 billion euros in support for the construction of the TSMC plant in Dresden. 10 billion has been released for the construction of an Intel chip factory near Magdeburg, also in eastern Germany.
This spring, the German manufacturer Infineon also started building a factory in Dresden; Bosch and the American company GlobalFoundries are already in the East German city.
