Dresden – The next hammer at Dresden Airport catches travelers cold! The airline Eurowings discontinues flights between the Saxon and Baden-Württemberg capitals.

Anyone who spontaneously wanted to fly from Dresden to Stuttgart – or vice versa – will be disappointed: as of this week there is no longer a connection.
“Although bookings are increasing, especially in the area of holiday flights, but also steadily in the business segment, it can still happen that individual flight offers have to be adjusted accordingly if demand does not develop as hoped,” said a spokeswoman for the airline on request by TAG24. “There are economic as well as ecological reasons for this.”
Accordingly, Eurowings “continuously checks the development of passenger numbers and the associated demand” and then came to the decision to shut down the route. Apparently, the machines were recently no longer utilized to a sufficient extent.

The offer will only be resumed from the start of the winter flight schedule. It is planned to fly to Stuttgart “regularly again as early as October 30th”.

The Eurowings spokeswoman further explained that this change would not affect the service of the airline’s three other routes from Dresden Airport. “In the summer flight schedule, we still have Dresden – Düsseldorf, Dresden – Cologne/Bonn and Dresden – Palma de Mallorca in our program as planned,” it said when asked.
This is probably not good news for Dresden International Airport. Although the number of passengers has increased again recently, the pre-crisis level is far from being reached.

The discontinuation of a further connection from Dresden should counteract the positive development of the first quarter.
