Eurovision Week LTV – broadcasts with “Other Boys”, live discussions and competition / Article

The day before performing at the biggest music event in Europe, “Other Boys” will compete in erudition in the show “VIP – Success. Intuition. Mind”. On Monday, May 9, at 9:10 pm in the “VIP” lodge near Uģis Joksts, the group “Other Boys” will be divided into two teams, one will be the soloist Jānis Pētersons, the other – bassist and singer Roberts Memmēns. An erudition game with sparkling humor and collaborative friendship is expected, which will guarantee a good mood for everyone.

On May 10, at 9.10 pm, we will start the first Eurovision evening with the program “Eurovision. Other Boys”. Prior to Eurovision, the band went on a special promo tour in several European countries, giving performances in London, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid. The LTV filming team joined the group for one of these concerts – the show will be an opportunity to get to know “Other Boys”, who have seriously introduced themselves to Latvian pop culture in less than two years.

Immediately after getting acquainted with “Other Boys” at 22.00, the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest is expected to be broadcast live from Turin. The song “Eat Your Salad” will sound second. Albania, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Denmark, Armenia, Austria, Croatia, Iceland and Greece will compete in the first semi-final with Latvia. All the participating countries will be able to vote – including Latvia, as well as the representatives of the “big five” Italy and France.

The second semi-final of Eurovision will be broadcast live on Thursday 12 May at 10 pm. It will be attended by Australia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Finland, Georgia, Israel, Malta, San Marino, Serbia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Ireland, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Sweden. Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom will also vote this evening.

From each semi-final, 10 countries will qualify for the Eurovision final, but traditionally there will be places for the “big five” – ​​Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and Italy.

The Eurovision final will take place on Saturday, 14 May. Eurovision fans in different European countries have a great tradition – to spend Eurovision evenings with friends on TV screens, commenting on the performances. LTV will return to a tradition this evening – to hear experts before the final of the competition.

To find out what young people think about the most beautiful song show of the year and whether it has been able to attract their attention this year, at 19.00 on the youth platform “16+” YouTube viewing expert, rapper Prusax, “TikTok” content creator Ilze Dobele and song translator Denis Demchenko, who will have prepared a couple of Eurovision hits in his special manner of performing songs. Who knows, last year’s Latvian representative Samanta Tīna will probably join. Guests will talk about the hottest Eurovision events, costumes and performances, as well as reveal their favorites. The glorious leaders Nancy Garkalne and Martins Dzenis will take care of the talks and the most relevant issues in the discussion.

After the discussions, a big and bright live broadcast from Turin is expected at 22.00 – the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. The grandest music show in Europe will take place for the 66th time.

Toms Grēviņš will comment on the Eurovision semi-finals and live broadcasts of the final on Latvian Television for the eleventh time, while musician Lauris Reiniks will make his debut as a commentator this year.

On February 12, the band “Citi zēni” with the song “Eat Your Salad” became the winners of the Latvian Television Song Contest “Supernova 2022”, gaining the opportunity to represent Latvia at the 66th International Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy.

The group “Other Boys” consists of Jānis Pētersons (vocals), Dagnis Roziņš (vocals and saxophone), Reinis Višķeris (keyboards), Krišjānis Ozols (guitar), Roberts Memmēns (bass) and Toms Kagainis (drums).

In 2022, the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Turin, Italy. Latvia will be represented in the competition by a group “Other Boys” with the song “Eat Your Salad”.

The Latvian song will be performed in the first semifinal on May 10. The Eurovision final will take place on 14 May.

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the organizers of Eurovision barred Russia from participating in this year’s competition.
