A large number of the candidates participating in the Eurovision Song Contest in May met for the first time on Saturday. The first of a series of so-called pre-parties took place in Madrid. The Dutch entry, Joost Klein, was not there.
A total of 25 of the 37 participating countries performed in the Spanish capital. Baby Lasagna (Croatia), Nemo (Switzerland) and alyona alyona & Jerry Heil (Ukraine) were among others. They are all currently in the top five with bookmakers.
Nemo seems to benefit the most from his performance for the time being. At the betting offices, his chance of winning increased to 12 percent on Sunday morning, meaning the singer is now in the top 3 for the first time. Klein is fifth with ten percent.
The Netherlands was present at the pre-party in Madrid last year. Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper then made their much-discussed debut on stage.
The largest pre-party, Eurovision in Concert, will take place in the Netherlands in two weeks. So far, 29 acts have been announced for the show in AFAS Live.
