Guido Rossi of radio station Rai, however, is optimistic because of the decreasing number of infections. He tells the Turin newspaper TorinOggi that there is also a chance that the capacity will go to 100 percent: “We hope that we will be at maximum capacity by May and at the same time can guarantee safety.”

Last year, because of corona, it was uncertain for a long time whether there could be an audience at the song festival, which was then organized in Rotterdam. In the end, the Dutch cabinet gave permission for a so-called ‘Fieldlab’ experiment, in which 3,500 people were welcome during each show. That was about 20 percent of Rotterdam Ahoy’s capacity.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Turin this year. The semi-finals are on May 10 and 12 and the final is on May 14. It is not yet known when the tickets will go on sale.
