This year’s songs run out of clear favorites, writes journalist Mari Pudas.

It hasn’t even been a year since the Käärijä drug was rampant in Finland. Children played Käärijä in schools, the stonemasons of the Helsinki railway station, i.e. the Light Bearers, got handsome green boleros, bakeries sold Käärijä pastries.
Wrapper Cha cha cha -song was played everywhere and had a spike on Spotify.
And the drug didn’t just stay in Finland, a sea of green boleros filled the surroundings of the Liverpool arena right from the first audience rehearsals and Cha Cha Chata was hatched all over Europe.
At the same time, it was announced that the most talented singer comes from Sweden. It was also known that the people from Raati won’t get any points for Käärijä in the final. Everyone knew that the victory of the wise men would go to either Loreen or the personable Käärijja, and the wise men became a real Finland-Sweden national match.

In Finland, people wanted very much to believe in Käärijä’s victory, Finland’s second win. The opposite happened, Loreen won. Finns were upset.
Excuses for the defeat were sought from the rules and professional councils that voted incorrectly.
The public knew how to vote “correctly”, and the public votes rained on Käärijä’s boleros.
Wise men were interested, wise men were a collective phenomenon. And above all, all the top artists were good and the fight to win was tight.
Now the atmosphere is different. There is no clear winning favorite, no winning duo, but several countries are fighting for victory. That’s a good thing, there’s enough excitement until the end. The bad thing is that none of the leading countries rise to the level of Käärijä or Loreen, and a decent visuhype can wait for itself.
The Netherlands has come closest to the hype Joostwhose paragraph European Pope is at least effective for children.
European Pope is a big hit in his home country, which in the Spotify era is a prerequisite for success in music. If the song is not a hit in its home country, can it be a hit in Europe.
And what about Finland? No one believes in winning or placing in the top 10. Windows95man song No Rules didn’t become a big hit in Finland at any point, but as you can remember, how the show did well in the New Music competition No Rules to a new level.
The same is now expected at Eurovision, and the fact that Finland is surprisingly high in the betting, at number 13, speaks for it. It’s been a long time since the days when a “special microphone stand” was responsible for the visual element of the Finnish talent show.
Windows95man and Joost both rely on humor. A little in the same direction and very much in the direction of Käärijä, currently number one on the betting charts, Croatia’s Baby Lasagne with its song Dim Tag Team Rim.
So the fate of the wrapper was the votes of the council, the people of the council were so unanimous about Loreen’s superiority. This year, a more humorous song can win, because there is nothing like Loreen, a superior favorite of the council. The council’s voices are scattered with bombproof.
Switzerland’s Nemo gets a large part of the town hall votes, but is it enough to reach the public?
The absence of superior favorites also indicates that the level of wise men this year is not as high as last year. No song stands out with its superiority, unlike last year with Käärijä and Loreen. To put it bluntly, you could say that the least bad will win this year.
Or maybe several artists make windows95mans and the virtuoso performance takes the song to a whole new level, like Windows95man did at UMK.
The Eurovision opening ceremony is today. The first semi-final, in which Finland will perform, will be sung on Tuesday, May 7. The final is 11.5.
