Vambie Thug were outraged by the comments of the commentator of the Israeli television company Kan regarding their song “Doomsday Blue”.
Representatives of Ireland at Eurovision 2024, a non-binary person Wambi Thug, called on the organizers of the song contest to disqualify Israel after Israeli broadcaster Kan commented on their song “Doomsday Blue”. About this reports Eurovoix news.
In an interview with Irish broadcaster RTÉ News, Vambie Thug stated that the comment (regarding their song – Ord), on Israeli television violates the rules of the competition. As a result, they called for Israel to be disqualified from the competition and expressed hope that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) “will respond to the comment in the right way”.
The comment in question was made Tuesday night on Israel’s Kan TV channel during the first semi-final: the Israeli commentator said that the song (“Doomsday Blue” performed by Bambie Thug, – row) will be the “scariest” of the evening.
“There will be a lot of spells, black magic, dark clothing, satanic symbols and voodoo dolls, like we had in Cat Square in Jerusalem in the mid-90s.” – said an Israeli commentator.
Eurovoix news notes that RTÉ declined to say whether they had made a formal complaint to the EBU about the Israeli commentator’s comments. However, they confirmed that they did not ask to withdraw Israel from the competition.
Bambie Thug skipped the May 11 dress rehearsal for their Grand Final performance. In a post on Instagram, they explained that a situation had arisen that they believed required urgent attention from the EBU, and that was the reason why they did not perform at the rehearsal.
Instead, Bambie Thug is expected to perform in number 10 tonight during the Eurovision 2024 Grand Final.
We will remind, on May 11, the European Broadcasting Union disqualified the Dutch performer Joost Klein, who was supposed to perform in the grand final of “Eurovision-2024” under number 5 with the song “Europapa”.
