Eurovision 2024: Nemo from Switzerland with “The Code” the big winner of the competition – 2024-05-12 03:10:08

Switzerland’s Nemo is the big winner of tonight’s Eurovision 2024 Final with the song ‘The Code’, a track about the personal search to find who you are.

‘The Code’, a mix of pop, rap and Mozart’s Magic Flute, details the star’s journey towards accepting his non-binary identity.

The selection of the country’s representative was made by a Swiss committee which listened to approximately 420 different artists who submitted their songs.

Those who had the chance to be at the Malmo Arena were treated to an audio-visual extravaganza that included movement, great vocals and lots of lights.

Who is Nemo?

Born in 1999 in Biel, a small bilingual town in Switzerland, Nemo has been playing the violin, piano and drums since he was a small child. In 2016, Nemo became famous overnight through an appearance on SRF Virus (#Cypher), which went viral on social media. He then released two EPs himself and seven songs entered the official Swiss Singles Chart directly.

2020, according to the official Eurovision website, marked the beginning of a period of change for Nemo, when he began writing and producing for other artists, and also began releasing songs in English. In his music, Nemo deals with topics such as gender identity, mental health and finding one’s place in this world.

It is noted that for the first time in the history of Eurovision we had two non-binary artists, Nemo from Switzerland and Bambie Thug from Ireland.

It’s now 36 years since Switzerland last won Eurovision and Nemo is the reason the country will host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025.

The five:
