Eurostat’s flash estimate: Latvia’s GDP growth in the second quarter was lower than the EU average

In Latvia, in the second quarter of this year, compared to the corresponding period a year ago, the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) was lower than in the European Union (EU) on average, according to the EU statistical offices published on Tuesday “Eurostat“rapid assessment data collected for 20 block lands.

According to seasonally adjusted data, Latvia’s GDP in the second quarter increased by 10% year-on-year.

Economic growth in the second quarter was recorded on an annual basis in all EU Member States for which information is available.

The fastest economic growth in this period was recorded in Spain (+ 19.8%), France (+ 18.7%), Hungary (+ 17.7%) and Italy (+ 17.3%).

In Lithuania, GDP has grown by 8%.

In the EU, GDP grew by 13.2% year on year in the second quarter, and by 13.6% in the euro area.

Quarter-on-quarter economic growth was also recorded in all EU Member States for which data are available, but was faster in Portugal (+ 4.9%), Austria (+ 4.3%), Latvia (+ 3.7%) and the Netherlands (+3 , 1%). The Lithuanian economy has grown by 0.4% during this period.

Compared to the first quarter, GDP grew by 1.9% in the EU and by 2% in the euro area.

Data are not available for Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta and Slovenia. On an annual basis, working-day adjusted data have been used for the calculation for the Netherlands.
