‘Eurostat’: In September, Latvia had a higher unemployment rate than the EU average

In Latvia, the unemployment rate was 6.8% in September, which was higher than in September European Union (EU) average, according to Eurostat’sEurostat” data.

According to Eurostat, the highest unemployment rates among EU Member States in September were in Spain – 14.6%, Greece – 13.3%, Italy – 9.2%, Sweden – 8.8%, Finland – 7.9%, France – 7.7% and 7.3% in Croatia.

The lowest unemployment rates in September were registered in the Czech Republic (2.6%), the Netherlands (3.1%), Malta (3.2%), Germany and Poland (both 3.4%). Unemployment was 5.9% in Estonia and 6.7% in Lithuania.

According to seasonally adjusted data, the EU average was 6.7% in September, compared to 7.4% on average in the euro area.

According to Eurostat, 14.324 million people were out of work in the bloc in September, of which 12.079 million were in the eurozone.
